Skyroot Aerospace: Opening the Skies to Private Launchers

Founded by former ISRO scientists Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, Skyroot Aerospace became the first Indian private firm to design and launch a sub-orbital rocket into space.


1. Prarambh: The Vikram-S Launch

On November 18, 2022, Skyroot's Vikram-S rocket successfully blasted off from Sriharikota under the *Prarambh* mission. It marked the launch of India's first privately developed rocket, reaching an altitude of 89.5 km.


2. The Vikram Launch Vehicle Fleet

Skyroot is building a series of modular orbital launchers designed for quick assembly:

  • Vikram I: Tailored for small satellite constellations, capable of carrying 480 kg to LEO.
  • Vikram II & III: Scaled-up versions with advanced cryogenic upper-stages, designed for on-demand global satellite deployments.
